Morals
Recently, I've begun to question the definition of morality in our society. While I've never committed any act of criminal nature, I seriously doubt that my notion of what is "good" and "bad" is the norm followed by the masses. Death as punishment for crimes is, to me, an acceptable way of maintaining order in the world; however, this is where my sights differ. I believe that mere lethal injection is a waste. Human life is not simply replaced; it has taken a great deal of time for a person to reach the age of adulthood, and to take it away uselessly with a single injection only further promotes America's stereotypical appearance of being a wasteful nation. Rather than killing by injection, I feel that criminals that would recieve the death penalty anyway would be of further use to their society by becoming part of an experiment to improve the world. Since death is the desired outcome for this individual, let them die with purpose. I realize that human experimentation is frowned upon by most (thus, here is where my own morals differ), but imagine the possibilities such experiments could bring us. Level 4 diseases could become just another vaccine. The word "Ebola" would not be accompanied by a 95% death rate. Nations would no longer worry about which nation was experimenting with which disease because cures for all of these disease could be found. I realize that this could not be the immediate future, but it would eventually be truth. Regardless of what some might think, there is no way to recognize a cure 100% until is has been tested on humans. I want those in line for capital punishment to be injected, not with immediate death, but with a disease that causes death to the innocents of the world. We would be able to witness the effects, symptoms, and results of the disease in actual cases in humans. This sounds like the perfect use of resources to me, but I'm sure that most who read this will disagree and find me a cold-hearted person. You may also argue that knowledge of such a cruel fate will only cause criminals to become more violent in a desperate fight to escape such an end. This is probably true, but those are the criminals who need to be captured immediately. These are the proven results. The other side of this argument, the criminals who stopped such actions due to the consequences, will go unmeasured as the crimes were never committed. No clear cut sides can be drawn in such matters. Morals are a personal fight. Regardless, these are my views, and were I to run the world, these would be my actions.

Watch
Lunchtime occurance.
Three (all male) sat at a table eating lunch. I (female) sat near, reading, also eating lunch. Outside the window, a truck pulled up, attempting to parallel park. The three watched, laughing loudly as the driver (male) tried to park. Two of the driver's friends (both female) watched and gave instruction from the sidewalk. The driver tried several times over the course of about five minutes to parallel park, all the while, unknown to him, the three watched, jeering. The driver eventually became so frustrated that the driver's car hit the truck parked directly in front of it. The driver and the driver's friends walked away. The three left as well. I watched as the owner of the truck (male) got into the truck and drove away, none the wiser.
The driver: watched by his friends, the three, and myself.
The driver's friends: watchers of driver, watched by the three and myself.
The three: watchers of driver and driver's friends, watched by me.
Me: watcher of driver, driver's friends, the three, and truck driver.
Truck driver: watched by me.
Seven were watched.
Six were watchers.
Five were both.
A person can be the watched or the watcher, both or neither. Be careful of your actions, because 'all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players' and the players are always watched. Watch others as you too are watched.
